AceLM engineering rigor and delivery controls

Product direction recorded from the founder's October 5, 2026 explanation and corrections. This document expands positioning; it does not change the authoritative artifact transition catalog, terminal UX, or their explicitly open decisions. It is not evidence that every capability described here ships.

Purpose and origin

Agent-workflows began as a way to help a developer and team define software work, verify that it meets specifications, and maintain quality control when using coding agents. AceLM carries that engineering purpose forward into a connected development environment.

The problem includes premature completion claims, partial plan execution, weak functional checks, inadequate tests, regressions, lost reasoning, and unclear accountability across a complex project. The response combines professional rigor and diligence with durable context and visibility. Completion gates are one part of that response.

Evidence across the engineering process

Question Required kind of project record or evidence
What system are we building? Requirements, non-goals, constraints, acceptance criteria, architecture, interfaces, and design
Why this approach? Decision rationale, considered alternatives, tradeoffs, assumptions, approval, and affected revisions
Was the accepted work performed? E-item coverage, changed-file scope, result revisions, execution logs, and explicit unfinished work
Does it function as specified? Observed behavior against acceptance criteria and relevant user journeys; appropriate integration/contract checks
What was tested? Commands, outcomes, evaluated revision, applicability, test scope, skipped/unavailable checks, and evidence
Did it preserve existing behavior? Appropriate regression checks and independent evaluation of affected functionality
Can another contributor continue? Current scope, decisions, accepted plan, dependencies, ownership, checkpoints, unresolved questions, and remaining E/V obligations
What did it consume? Attributed token usage, costs, time, retries, and progress, with missing data and estimate boundaries visible
Which rules applied? The effective policy/profile version, required reviews and checks, authority, changes, and any explicitly permitted exceptions

These records support justified engineering conclusions. They do not establish mathematical absence of defects. Required evidence is proportional to scope and risk under explicit project policy; skipped or unavailable checks are not passes.

Human and agent collaboration

A handoff should identify the current repository/artifact revisions, accepted intent and design, the decisions that constrain the work, what has been performed and verified, open questions, and the next authorized action. A transcript or summary alone must not substitute for authoritative project records.

Co-development needs explicit ownership and isolated workspaces as well as shared context. A new agent must not inherit acceptance authority simply because it received the previous agent's notes. Keep selected assignment activity, lifecycle, readiness, human intervention, and process liveness separate as required by terminal UX.

Planned resource reporting

Progress, tokens, costs, and time within and across projects are product direction from the founder's brief. The reporting schema, aggregation service, and UI are not defined by this website update.

A future implementation should attribute observations to the project, artifact, assignment, provider/model, and relevant revision or execution episode. Distinguish measured usage from estimated cost; version pricing assumptions; show missing provider usage instead of treating it as zero. Distinguish wall-clock duration, waiting time, and active work where available. Concurrent assignments must not be double-counted as project elapsed time.

Cross-project views need an explicit project boundary and comparable reporting periods. Counts of tokens, elapsed time, or performed E-items are not proxies for software quality or verified completion. Decisions still required include provider instrumentation, pricing updates, currency handling, access controls, retention, aggregation, and export formats.

Configurable rigor, enforcement, and auditing

Policy configuration is intended to let teams specify required assessment lenses, evidence, review depth, checks, retry limits, and approval/delegation boundaries for their work. The effective settings and any authorized changes should be inspectable.

Configuration is not permission to falsify results or silently bypass mandatory gates. Review success remains distinct from acceptance; execution remains distinct from verification; changed accepted scope requires the applicable revision, review, and renewed acceptance. Budget extensions, exceptions where permitted, and release authority remain explicit decisions.

The policy schema, preset profiles, access controls, and audit export mechanisms need implementation design. The website may describe this direction without presenting an unimplemented settings screen or claiming certification.

Public copy and proof

The primary promise is professional engineering discipline for coding agents, supported by the five pillars in product positioning. Show concrete records and checks, preserve experienced developer leadership, and identify planned features at their point of use.

The existing AUTH-03 preview illustrates linked scope, independent checking, and a remaining release blocker. It is not a real customer case, a benchmark, or proof that all platform features are implemented. Future case studies should document the actual requirement, detected gap, corrective work, independent result, and measured resource effects where known.
